Not accurate. The T-24 doesn't automatically mean an empty F seat will be opened for upgraded. Sometimes now you'll find its not til day of, T-12, T-10, etc.

You should have said, yes to buying one. When the system would go to ask for payment, it would show a cost of Zero. And if they asked you for payment, they thats the case of a shady agent. I had that happen to me in MEX.

Agents regardless of gate, ticket counter or Admirals Club have access to a "user interface" that was designed to check for LFBU upgrades and process if available.
