Minimum check-in is NOT the same as the recommended arrival time at the airport. It's clear that the OP was not checked in within the 45-minute window, and thus didn't meet AA's minimum check-in requirement.
That said, it's really surprising to me that the OP experienced a 1.5 hour wait (1 hour actual + 30 minutes expected additional wait time) in a priority line.
To me, that seems weird. OP presents himself 120+minutes prior to flight and misses Check-In because of AA's mess. Are you saying that OP was the problem in this situation?
