OT: does US do pre-ordering?

Back on-topic. I have been known in CE if I equally like both options and sitting in the front (i.e. served first) to say to the crew that I'm happy with both options but realise not everyone may be so give me what's left at the end.

I've never said that on a longhaul flight because there's always something on those menus I'm less keen on and saying "I'm happy with anything except ..." would just complicate matters.
