Seems to me that in pmUA, flight numbers had some associated properties - ie they were reflective of a route, direction, etc.
For pmCO, they're basically just numbers.
As a pmCO flyer, I guess I'm just used to them not having any value beyond that particular instance of that particular flight.
PMUA had more number ranges, like 800 for the pacific and 900 for the atlantic.
PMCO had more number patterns, like most flights AAA-BBB had the number pattern XXYY with YY constant.
