For red-eyes, if I arrive home/hotel before 10 am and I'm not working on the day , I take a nap until around 1pm.

I then won't struggle to stay awake the rest of the day and can go to bed around 10pm.

This works particularly well for me on the dreadful East coast red-eyes or for early arrivals in Asia or Australia.
