Based on personal experience, I wouldn't expect anything on any airline. Often crews love little kids and will do what they can to help you out, but those lap child fees don't buy you anything other than the right to take your child with you.

As an aside, the only time that we took our son on any international flights as a lap child was after we adopted him and we were flying around Asia on vacation before bringing him home. We rarely flew with him as a lap child domestically, either.

Ignoring any safety issues, we learned from that one journey that having a kid as a lap child on a long international flight, even in a premium cabin, is a good way to have a miserable flight. It might seem really silly to shell out thousands of $$ to give your kid a seat in business/first when the child is too small to need the room, but you are buying your own comfort. This is more true the older your child.
