Meals for lapchildren on international flights
We have an upcoming trip to Asia with a child just under 2 years old that will sit in our lap. One of the segments is in United Global First. I know from experience that United often doesn't do a diligent job of having extra meals on board, so I sent them an e-mail asking if I could pre-order a childrens meal. I got a response and said that isn't possible and advised me to pack food for my child and bring it on the flight with us.
I find this very unacceptable as it's a 14 hour flight in Global First. It's not like I'm going feed a bacteria infested turkey sandwich that has been at room temperature for 10 hours to our child. Plus, you would think the $1,500 infant fee (10% of base fare) would cover a childrens meal.
Does anybody have any experience with this? Should I really bring food on board for a 14 hour flight? (I'm not sure how perishable food would hold up for breakfast after flying for 13 hours). Or would there most likely be plenty of "snacks" that our son could have?
Also, on another note we have other flights in business class on Singapore Airlines, Thai, and EVA. Since those airlines put such a heavy emphasis on service, I would assume they will provide childrens meals to lap children in business, correct? Thanks!
