The points you earn from the CC won't be that significant unless you're also earning points on the stays themselves. But
you can't earn points on the stays themselves if you book through a third-party site.
However, in the Marriott case, you can use their "best rate guarantee" program (called
Look No Further or LNF) to lower your rate to 25% what the third-party site shows if the third party site shows a rate bookable by everyone and the terms are the same the room type are the same, if the third-party site is indeed showing a lower rate.
If you are going to book through third-party sites, I'm not sure if hotel points are going to work for you on normal spend.
