That's what I was afraid of. I've got an SQ flight as a backup, looks like I'll have to use that. CX is fully booked through all gateways within a few days of that outbound. Unless AA was willing to open up award inventory on the DFW-HKG flight then I'll just "settle" for SQ.
Not sure how DFW-HKG helps if you are trying to avoid an overnight in HKG and instead want an overnight flight for a 10am connection.
Once CX calls back just outline the fact that you don't accept their forced overnight unless they pay the hotel. At that point since there is only 1 DPS a day you might find them willing to open up LA or JFK inventory (more likely with the greater number of flights versus SFO).
