First hiccup in the T-Mo global service, and it seems to be a known issue.

I could not register on SmarTone in Hong Kong and China Mobile HK would only ever be on Edge and the speeds were really slow - probably less than 64. I ended up tethering to the hotel cell phone most of the time. In Macao, data service didn't work at all. I have even bought a high speed pass, and it was rendered useless.

Worked great in Bali.

I saw the bit on Egypt above. In Egypt, without a data pass, the speeds and reception were exceptional.
