LAX is a huge dump in general that should be overhauled. It's sad that many of the international gateways in this country are craptastic (especially IAD). Not a good first impression of America.
Skipping that point, the immigration and customs at U.S. airports is a bigger black eye in my opinion. I’ve traveled to far more countries than I care to admit. I find that the US points of entry are a hair pulling experience—even for the “locals."
