My iPhone is grandfathered on ATT global roaming. I just traded in my Verizon tablet plan for Harbor Mobile's version of TMobile's tablet plan for 5 gigs for $18 a month counting taxes. My ATT plan includes Canada. My little Nokia has a Toggle Mobile SIM with free inbound calls (and free outbound thanks to Google) together with great VOIP over 3g and more often LTE. If you think about the percentage of the globe that is in my "coverage area" it is mind boggling.
