I travel with a married couple about once a year. We split everything 3 ways. Add the hotel, car, meals and divide in thirds. I guess they could say they share a bed, but I do not eat meat, so my meals are typically less expensive than theirs. But they have never protested about the division. And I totally understand not just getting your own room, not everyone has the disposable income to do that! Neither they nor I would be able to afford our trips if we each had to get our own room.
