VAT refund - French Polynesia
I thought this would be obvious but my searches yielded nothing.
I know about VAT refunds for goods but what about hotels? My hotel states that a tourism tax of 5% and a VAT of 5% will be on top of my rate. Since they are explicitly calling this a VAT, is this eligible for a refund at the airport in Papeete?
My back of the envelope math suggests a VAT charge of roughly XPF 80,000 for my stay in Bora Bora (about USD 800) and probably XPF 7,500 for my stay in Tahiti (about USD 75). I certainly wouldn't mind getting this back, no matter how long it takes.
Is this possible?
