OP didn't mention anything about his FF status either, this is important because while skipping the last leg isn't illegal, it's against the T&C's of most airline FF programs and he/she can lose all the miles in his/her account.
Oh please... AI won't notify your FFP and even then they don't care. If you did that with UA/DL/AA, maybe with their own FFP, but not with partners.
