I've looked through the extensive information on the forums, but I'd love a second opinion:

I am booked on EK 517, DEL-DXB (where I have a connection to JFK). Departs DEL at 16:10 on Jan 14th.

I want to book AI 476, JDH-DEL. Arrives in DEL at 13:20 on Jan 14th.

That gives me 2:50 minutes for the transfer. Flightstats says that AI 476 is delayed by an average of an hour, on time just 11% of the time .

I also have a bag that probably needs to be checked -- a large backpack that's probably over 7kg. And I can't check-through with Air India and Emirates, AFAIK?

Any thoughts? Otherwise I need to fly in to DEL on the same flight a day earlier.
