You can get Club World from Europe to HKG or KUL for £1500 return if you look! And bypass Australia (even better!). Admittedly OSL fares to SYD are rather good too but the HKG and KUL routes have historically much greater competitive pressures than other places in the area and so fares are low for the distance.
