I suppose it depends on how much you are prepared to pay for business class for SYD-AKL?
Business class return on LA from SYD-AKL is available at GBP411 return (I class) which would connect reasonably from a BA arrival from London ; being a OW airline would provide for through luggage transfer from London
if the AKL-SYD timing is too crappy, then LA business class to AKL is GBP342 with Qantas having a one way fare from AKL-SYD for GBP328
LAN's business luggage allowance of 3 x 23Kg would also not create much of an impact on luggage allowance
