Seat change for "operational" reasons??
This was not a major issue, more of wanting a real answer to what an "operational" reason really is? Flew on the 249 to Rio yesterday and had 11K selected from the booking date some weeks back. At on-line check in the seat was still showing as 11K but when I confirmed 11K I was given 15K?!? Quick call to the gold line advised I was moved for "operational reasons".
After quizzing the helpful agent the only reasons I could get was a) moved to accommodate a family, b) seat was knackered, c) IFE was knackered.
Not surprisingly I couldn't help but have a stroll down during the flight and saw a gent lying flat out chuckling at the IFE. No sign of any kids!
So, can anyone tell me what a real "operational" reason is? I really don't mind if I was bumped for a superior Gold member or BA employee, would just be nice to know.
I do know I lost 64K one night to GRU for a BA maintenance guy, so the BA employee is certainly a possibility.
Thanks!
