Hi there- I've read on previous posts that it is possible to avoid Air Canada's high surcharges by booking overseas flights with their Alliance partners. I've just tried to do this, and came up with fees of $1100 for a Lufthansa return flight from YYZ to Barcelona. What am I doing wrong? Other Alliance partner flights seem to have fees that are also as inflated as Air Canada's.
