SQ availability doesn't show on united.com; you can see it on NH or AC/AP, but you have to call UA to book.

Don't get your comment about not being able to book "more desirable" Asian airlines through UA. Last year I flew TG F (multiple times) and OZ F (on the 380) using UA miles. As well as LH F and TK J.

Do you happen to know whether the first proposed open jaw for 82.5k is legal?
SFO-BKK(stop)-CMB
DAR-SFO

United rep told me it wasn't and that they couldn't book it for me, but since it's bookable on United.com, I'm not even sure what "legal" means?
"Legal" means allowed by the fare routing rules.

United phone reps are notorious for giving wrong answers. If you can book it on the web, go ahead and do it.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you book your itinerary using a string of different awards in different programs, and you need to make a change that affects multiple flights, you're going to get killed on the change fees. You'll also be dealing with different programs, all of which have their own rules and idiosyncracies. One of the benefits of a RTW is it's one-stop shopping.
