How many travelers will be tempted to book two one way tickets for 5000 less without the protection associated with one PNR for the trip? Will Delta protect the traveler on the BB-CC segment for issues on the AA-BB segment?
I just did this exact thing because it saved me 37.5k per person.

Married segments were forcing a domestic + TATL into a higher tier, plus connection was >4hrs so it priced separate, plus additive partner pricing made an intraeurope leg split off on its own.

Ridiculous.
