It's funny, last year I was flying YYC-YVR, with a big storm in Toronto causing several arriving aircraft to be delayed, with my flight at 2+ hours delayed. I asked the agent if I could connect through YEG instead. She looked it up, said no problem, then asked her colleague why they were not doing this for more passengers. Flew to YVR on a partially full plane while many pax were long delayed in YYC.

Maybe it is just a lack of critical thinking?
