Note that if you consider doing this, you'll need a Chinese visa or an onward flight to a country other than your embarkation country within 72h (they only look at the country from which your flight to China arrived and the country to which you will immediately depart, so if you could find a way to route YVR-PVG-NRT-..., you'd be good)
