Again, a helpful word of advice when flying in to buy Rimowa products in Germany:

This is a popular product for a growing volume of like-minded travelers, and not every model, in every size or colour, is always available. In fact during the trade show (Messe Frankfurt) periods, there is a run on hotel accommodation and Rimowa luggage cases over the city. Don't assume it will all be there for you when you arrive.

SOLUTION: Plan ahead. Make the commitment.

1.) Call or contact the store of your choice well ahead of your arrival date.

2.) Place an order, or pay for the item(s) you want, ahead of your arrival. even if you miss your flight for some reason, the stores will hold your paid luggage for you.

3.) Ask for an email copy of your receipt at the time of purchase, IN ADDITION to the original you will be given when you arrive. Keep that email copy with you whenever you travel with that luggage, as there is no question of the case model or value you paid should something happen along the way.

4.) Ask for a copy of the VAT rebate documentation to be included with your original receipt. You do not want to run around the airport looking for this, if you don't have to.

if you only want to look around and decide, that is fine of course. But most of us do not have that time luxury. I would rather do some other shopping, dine at a good restaurant, or make my flight connection.

Emails are free, and in this age of VOIP calls, it only takes 5 minutes or so to secure what you want when you arrive, ahead of time.
