So I'm currently in Y11 and I'm slowly having to consider career paths, having chosen my A-levels. I want a job that is interesting, has lots of travel, something I'd be good at and is rewarding.
I came across the scheme (BA FPP), and it looks amazing! I live close by to Oxford, so the location is great and you get to spend some time in Arizona too! Just the thing is whether I actually stand a chance when I come to apply in 2016. (I found a website and they said there's a good chance the scheme should be running still.)
For GCSEs I'm predicted: 1A*, 6As and 4Bs - however there is a chance, if I push myself a bit more to get 4A*s, 5As and 2Bs. I know for either of those groups - they're pretty good. The subjects are: Eng Lang, Eng Lit, Maths, Physics, Biology, Chem, RE, History, Computing, Geog and Spanish. I may also be doing the 'additional maths' qualification, which is similar to AS maths. The subjects they will look at are - Maths (A*), Eng Lang (B), Physics (A) and Computing (A).
Regarding A-levels; I've chosen to do Maths, Biology, Economics and History; and I'll be dropping History after the first year. I see myself getting AAB with the B in Biology.
Outside of qualifications I've done: DofE, World Challenge (international student travel where you volunteer in poorer countries - I went to India) and representing the school at numerous events. I've won multiple awards at school (including the highest award available) and I've been told I can get onto the Head Boy Team at Sixth Form.
The only job I've had (and still have) is a paper round, and when I go into Sixth Form - I should get a part time job.
I've got a HUGE passion for travel and BA, having only ever flew not-BA on two flights, I'm extremely committed, hard working and motivated by this opportunity. I'm sacrificing a potential degree at a Russell Group, something I've been working hard consistently for over 5 years now, for this scheme.
So to anyone, but really to pilots, cadets and ex-cadets - do I stand a strong chance?
Thanks!
