That's air passenger duty. If you stay in the UK for more than 24 hours you will incur the longhaul duty rate at the high band on your connection to Sydney (via Singapore).

BA.com is simply not sophisticated enough to do what you want. It may show some options but whenever you have flights with partners it always misses things (same with JAL domestic connections).

This fare needs to be booked by phone, or with the help of our favourite BA ticket desk man.

NB, if you change flight number at SIN you will get a few extra tier points. This fare permits up to five transfers and unlimited stopovers (two free) so there are many good uses for it.
