Ok, related question - what is the max amount of cash withdrawal per transaction?

Why I am asking all this - I moved overseas some years ago and now need to get some US $ while I am there. While transferring money via wire transfer is the obvious thing to do, in the country where I am they charge not only a fixed amount per transfer, but in addition - a percentage from the transferred amount. Plus, banks use their own rates when sending money overseas. So, at the end, transferring $1000 would cost me something like $80 at least.

So I am trying to find the most cost effective solution.
