I was originally looking at booking a WAS -> SIN route with stop back in HKG before heading back to WAS. I found that if I booked a WAS -> HKG R/T, it came out at straight W fares, as opposed to a mix of V/U fares by including SIN as one ticket. I could route on 895 ORD -> HKG on the outbound (same aircraft so no risk of missing next seg), so I just purchased separately 895/896 HKG/SIN which came out to > 20 percent less in total. Additionally, I applied 125 certs to both tickets which meant even less out of pocket.

I applied miles/copay for UG on the HKG/SIN segments.

I'd imagine UA may want to drop the price even more to have more bookings at the odd hour flights. Pretty sure the Asia LCCs are running A320s or 737s on this route too.

For the UA trackers, when 895/896 aircraft was switched to an GUM config 737, did they just leave the 777 on the ground at HKG overnight (or was that a 744 then)?
