A redemption flight does NOT count towards your 4 sectors. You can buy a cheaper ticket and UuA upwards, that would be OK. nth_utsera_sth_utsera reply needs to be read in conjunction with the rest of the reply for cheap BA tickets from ICN. Ditto KUL and TPE at least some of the time.
Agree with that but for the OP, I think the issue is that he is one segment short and already has the TP needed for status, so it's enough (and presumably cheaper) to do a flight to SIN, one way on avios, and returning with cash. Obviously that depends as to whether a one-way is cheaper than a return (or at least, cheap enough to justify spending the avios).
