I guess the level of F & B service is a key factor then- in the hotels with full F and B offering can understand wouldn't expect them to go out of the way but only last night was in CP Glasgow and at 22.05 the only option was the ubiquitous soup/Club sandwich so in that situation with takeaways only real option for a choice of hot meals flexible approach would be good :-)
I was there at the start of the week lol. I'm guessing there was a limited menu due to it being New Year as normally they have five or six dishes which are available 24/7, the curry and chilli are both quite nice.
In that hotel (CP Glasgow) if you have a club room they set it up the night before and normally you can get in to access the coffee machine etc all the time so plates and cutlery are always available there. James the evening concierge would be your best bet rather than reception if you needed cutlery.
In most HIXs they normally tell you to help yourself to cutlery, napkins etc from the Great Room and always have a stock of menus available. I've never tried at any of the other brands tbh.
