Takeaway deliveries to hotel

Is there a protocol when it comes to ordering a takeaway to be delivered to a hotel? I am particularly keen to understand whether it is acceptable to request cutlery and plates etc required if ordering a curry etc

Spending a lot of nights away in hotels means sometimes I prefer to order a takeaway so that I can enjoy a mix of hotel restaurant, hotel bar snack, room service, eating out and take away.

I think simply ordering a take away to hotel of any star rating is acceptable from what I have seen and I have had no issues with this-many hotels have takeaways advertised but the issue is when cutlery etc is required.

I guess protocols could be:-

- unacceptable
- depends on hotel rating
- yes but bring your own plastic cutlery
- yes just nick from restaurant :-)
- yes call room service but expect a tray charge
- yes call room service no charge just discretionary tip...alla ice
- yes ask reception if you can grab some from restaurant

Would be interested in opinions and recent experience!

Thanks,
