There are several good no-FTF cards with PIN backup listed in this thread's wiki that can be used instead or as a backup in case your preferred card doesn't work. In the meantime, we need to complain every time a card without a PIN isn't accepted at an unattended location.

The best case scenario is that Visa/MC eventually figure out that there's still significant card acceptance issues and at the very least require a PIN backup if not PIN priority. I'd also accept them fully enforcing the impending no CVM rule.
