Our flight back from Rio was scheduled to depart at 23:55 on new year's eve but was delayed by a few minutes.

We pushed back at a couple of minutes to midnight and the safety video started. Fireworks were visible out of the windows and passengers who still had drinks were toasting each other. A member of crew talked over the video telling everyone to be quiet and watch the screen which created even more distraction from the video.

Is there a reason why the video couldn't have been played a few minutes sooner, once everyone was on board and the doors closed?
