There's more to it.

It was in 1994 when you needed a paper award certificate to use Aadvantage miles. I called at 2:30am with a paper certificate in hand and got on a flight later that day, Good Friday. Getting an award flight that day was challenging.

The Aadvantage folks really pulled through for me, and were kind and considerate through the whole process. I have never forgotten their help. On occasion when I experience the inevitable glitches of air travel, I look back on AA coming through for me when I really needed it.
