Happy New Year from Lyon!

Thank you icegirl. While we like some of Alain Ducasse's restaurants, we prefer the more casual, less traditional French ones like Spoon in Hong Kong.

Like you, they were rescued eventually and an overnight delay is a rough go all the way around, to be sure, but you seem to have endured it all most bravely. If AA and Ken Chase had been involved, I rather suspect that the whole experience might've turned out somewhat differently.
(And please tell us how thick those hotel/castle stone walls are -- for no other reason than to give us Stateside readers a vicarious thrill.)
LOL. Thanks FallenPlat.

Thanks atcguy. Most mileage accumulation is from credit card spending for business and then transferring Amex miles to Aeroplan and Starwood miles to LH. Also have a Barclay's M&M Master Card. The only way to get LH First access more than two weeks out is via M&M.

My wife and I were there for lunch with friends in August. We were staying at Villefranche sur Mer, but drove to Eze for the day. Restaurant was sensational. We also had one of those tables that have their own balcony on the cliff. Spectacular vista! We also stocked up on lots of table linen and fragrances at the Fragonard Boutique at the base of the stairs from the hotel. Enjoy!!! Thanks again for your great reports throughout the year. Every best wish to you both for a safe and Happy New Year!
Thank you so much flyingmad for your kind comments. Since you've been to Chateau Eza, you know how unique and beautiful it is.

Too many decisions to make and the Christmas duck lost out.

Thank you ckx2. Or even FRA-DXB-CDG??

I am consistently impressed by the quality of LH's F catering onboard, their FT terminal and lounges, and the way they handle disruption.
Living in Europe one gets used to the shorthaul business classes of the various carriers. Most of the distances travelled are under 3 hours, and the model is very much based on connecting longhaul traffic and, crucially, the flexibility of cabin size for business travellers.
Thank you Genius1. Just like BA, huh?

The restaurant was full. I nearly died when the concierge at our hotel in Monaco directly below the village, as a joke lied that my father was the Austrian Consul. It was really embarrassing especially as he did not speak German. I was relieved that they did not speak German to him. The owner / Manager came to say hello. I was praying he would scram. Anyway it worked and it was wonderful.
Must be fabulous to stay here in the summer as they have a beautiful pool.
Great story about your dad the Austrian Consul.
We had originally tried the Chèvre d'Or but unfortunately, it is closed until March for the winter and for renovations.

LOL. I'm thinking probably not Mogadishu. DanielW travels to some amazing places.

Ha! Thank you DanielW. Although not quite as exotic as Mogadishu.
