As another posted pointed out, the reservation system treats the an AP business class reward ticket as a non-refundable paid-J reservation with or without all of the segments confirmed in J.
Right, but if you don't employ my methods of doing a SDC/ticket change, AC classifies it as an upgrade. Whether or not that is right or wrong is not worth spending time over it because we as customers/pions can't change that. As of today, it is considered an "upgrade" (to go from Y to J even if you've redeemed a J ticket on AE as part of an itinerary, as an example) and processed accordingly as such. It is considered the lowest on the upgrade list (after elite status), so what the Cow posted is correct.
