In many cases, the change can be done online.

Members belonging to a Household Account (HHA) may only use book redemptions for themselves and other members in their HHA.

...does this mean I need to step out of my HHA?

I'd like to book three club class flights to AMS for myself and two friends at the end of Jan - would appreciate some guidance please?
If you are a member of a HHA you can only book avios reward tickets for other members of your household account or members you have added as friends and family. Add your friends as friends and family and you can book for them.

From the Guide to Household Accounts:
From December 2013, HHA members can now spend their Household Avios on up to 5 additional family and friends who do not live at the same address. The Head of the Household can add family and/or friends to the new Family and Friends list which can be accessed via logging into your Executive Club account and selecting 'My family and friends' from the left hand menu.

Note: Avios cannot not be pooled with anyone who is added to your Family and Friends list, you can only share Avios in this way with individuals who live at the same address as you and are part of your Household Account.
