I have heard multiple horror stories about service at the Ritz if you are not deemed to dress formally enough or look wealthy enough. A *very* wealthy friend (nearly Forbes 400) was staying there and after a jog they gave him the 4th degree as he tried to get back into the hotel. Later that afternoon someone else independently asked him to leave the lobby because he was dressed in jeans. He left the lobby and checked out of the hotel right away, never to return.

I've stayed at the Rosewood and thought it was great. It does have a traditional English feel, though I would say the Savoy has an even stronger sense of British history. I think the Savoy's location is a bit more central, but both are great hotels.
