Most phones should support all 3G bands.

iPhone is suppose to support the most number of LTE bands. The one you buy in the US could be used in Asia and Europe whereas other smart phones have different SKUs for US vs. rest of the world.

Latin America may be further behind. For instance, I was researching going to Argentina, which doesn't have any LTE networks yet.
