Yes do call. Request the name match the name on the passport. A proactive approach is the better approach.

As an example, George Walker Bush Jr. is the name on the passport (not really) but the name on the tickets read George Bush, George W Bush, George Bush Jr, George BushJr...

The BushJr is the most frustrating example as the last name simply does not match!

But in all cases the flight departs with me on board.
