Got a decent deal to Amsterdam too (CAD 650 on flugladen.de). Multi city itinerary YEG-AMS, then to get back selected AMS-FRA and FRA-YEG (via Amsterdam!). From what I found this is as low as it gets from BC/AB to Amsterdam in May by a couple of 100$.
Return flights YEG-AMS without the FRA detour on the way back started at $1000. Bit more time on the way back but also more FB miles.
