I work in a large bank. Normally, it is based on posted day, not transanction date. But Chase may be different. I wouldn't risk it.
Sadly, My card will not arrive until 12/31/2014.
I guest I may be able to provide a good data point.
I will make the purchase on 12/31 and request the credit in 2015.
