I had the same problem trying to redeem points for a Marriott gift cert. Had enough MyPoints for a $25 reward and they essentially said they ran out of them and they redeposited my points. I waited til I had enough points for a $50 reward, ordered it and wrote them about 3 weeks before it was to redeposit and told them the story and that the new point level was onerous, etc and lo and behold I got the $50 cert in 2 weeks(before the new point levels kicked in.) Who knows what goes here.
