I am simply looking for insurance in case I need to change my expected departure time and BA has pulled the availability closer to the time.

Having flown sufficient to attain GGL status and thus clocked up gzillions of Avios which I rarely get the chance to use, I hardly think that I deserve the lambasting which I have received from some. Do I get equal praise for them for all the Amex 241's that I have never used, thus permanently enriching the pool of available Avios seats ??

The very fact that I am asking the question should suggest to the more level headed that despite all the flying that I do, this is not something that I have ever done before !
Its a shame you feel compelled to explain more on the back of some of the whiny responses here. You're one of BAs best customers and are doing absolutely nothing wrong.
