Free cancellations were only recently removed from GCHs and this was the reason given by BA. Also by holding several avios bookings because you can't sort your plans out denies those reward seats to others with no guarantee they would get released back once cancelled. I don't know if this is the reason the OP is asking, but if this is then it is pretty selfish. I realise my comments may not be a popular pov, but it needs to be said.
