Also, on arrival I was off quick and first to passport control, and outside the terminal before the plane should have even landed! Outstanding for US airport. Don't know if I was lucky or this is common for the 105
I'd absolutely take AA out - I'm also back in 747 F, a waste I fear for such a short flight, but only 20k air miles and CCR both ends (connecting onwards)
Do the AA for sure
Also forgot to say, so much more personal space and storage on AA J far ahead of BA on this one
I'd agree with this in all respects as flew the 105 out on 24/12 in 3A. 3A/K have only 1 window if that's important.
Seat and IFE blow BA out of the water, better pillow and blanket, BOSE headphones, decent spread of snacks in the 'bar'. Storage around the seat is terrific. We had a good crew who were more attentive than the average AA crew and champagne/wine were actually OK. Not stellar, but OK.
Was first off, and #1 in the passport line-up. Bag came off as we walked up to the carousel. Probably broke the all records for getting out of JFK, with possible exception of BA 1. Traffic into town at that time is awful though.
Although the food was a bit 'meh' - main course chicken wasn't too shabby. Sundaes now served from the galley in a tumbler. I came off this flight well relaxed and satisfied. What a relief not to be faced with British Rail style boxed sandwiches as a second meal ^
In F all they get that is different is that they are offered soup in between the starter and entree. Not sure whether the wines are any different/better. The seat is different of course and it swivels, but the Cirrus seat in J is very good.
Other good points is that they play the flight map throughout on the overhead projectors. Managed to watch a couple of films which wouldn't be possible on BA without ruining my eyes/hearing.
Overall the cabin decor is a bit 'bland' but looked well cared for in what I suppose is a fairly new bird.
Came back last night on a BA 744. Upper deck cabin looked so shabby with a loose seat cover. IFE screen kept flopping away from me so it was impossible to watch - but there wasn't really any interesting content. Didn't eat (the joys of pre-flight dining) and got a couple hours of shut eye, but that seat is really passe now.Managed to collapse my footstool yet again (for about the millionth time).Seats not on an upper deck window have naff all storage space.
New twist in the amenity kit is that they have some shaving gel, but no shaver, and no indication that any shavers are available. ...
Can't comment on the food but the usual uninspiring choices; the breakfast 'to go' option was fair enough (DO&CO muffin and orange juice plus small fruit salad).Good to see the plastic 'petrol station snack bar' containers still in use for fruit salad in the standard breakfast. How 'premium' is that?
Focussing purely on the hard product, go with AA every time on the 773. Soft product is more evenly matched. Kudos to AA for keeping the bacon rolls coming in the T3 lounge until noon - long after BA had 'shut up shop'.
Just some thoughts
