I had transferred all but 1500 points out of goldpoints not long ago. Thanks to this thread, I remembered to update my profile. Bingo: 2000 points in the account.
I looked at my frequent flier balances.. "which airline haven't i had any activity with in a really long time?" seemed like it may have been a year and a half with usairways.
I transferred 500 miles into usairways, giving a fresh 3 years of life to my 40,000 points with us.
Thanks, goldpoints, for one last service!
So, anyway, when I called to have the points transferred I mentioned to the CSR that I heard a rumor that the conversion rate would be changing. She said "that might happen." I said "I heard it might happen tomorrow." She said they "would be mailing notices about changes to the program tomorrow, so you'll be hearing more shortly. Regardless, since you've called tonight, we'll be taking care of you."
Between valumags and hallmark, goldpoints had been
very good to me.
I even used goldpoints as a portal for a bunch of other online shopping.
Looks like I'll be done with them. I even had the Goldpoints Visa as a #3 (backup) credit card. No need to keep that.. (I guess I'll just sign up for Amtrak Guestrewards).
The only sad thing is that there
are still points that haven't posted for me -- including a recent visit to TGI Friday's.
Lo siento.
It was fun while it lasted.
