The difference in miles is not that big (50,000 vs. 60,000 miles for a return flight to Europe on LH vs. UA respectively) but the additional taxes and surcharges are almost an order or magnitude different (way more expensive for LH).

Only M&M's mileage tables or MeilenRechner is relevant if you have the miles with M&M. UA's table and current promo is for those who hog MP miles.

Surcharges are complex to compute and change rapidly. The biggest difference for M&M redemptions on UA being if it is a North American flight or to somewhere else.
