YMMV/to each his/her own, of course. If it were me, I'd stay at Beaver Creek/Vail.
It would help to know what level skier (and the kind of terrain you enjoy) that the OP and his party are, as well as if this trip is centered on actual skiing, or if you are looking more for a scene and shopping.
I enjoyed the Westin Beaver Creek too it is a nice property and the Gondola helps, but I found myself using the Gondola mostly at the end of the day and taking the shuttle to the main lifts early in the morning. It takes quite a bit of effort to get to the main part of BC's terrain using the Riverfront Gondola. I will say that it is one of the nicer Westin's in the US. My main knock against it is the fact it is not in the village. I am pretty loyal to SPG but next time I am leaning towards something in the village like the Park Hyatt or Osprey. I really wish SPG had something either right in the BC village or right in Vail village. Terrain wise the combo of Vail/BC is one of my favorites too.
